All our branches will be closed and the Mobile Library will be off the road on Thursday 25 April 2024.

Watsonia Library is a well-appointed, wheelchair-accessible building with ample parking. Nestled in the heart of Watsonia, we are adjacent to the train station, with local shops and cafes nearby. Upon visiting our library, you’ll first notice a beautiful artwork — Wing of the Waa — adorning the building: one of many public artworks commissioned by the City of Banyule.

The library itself is a bright, modern, open-plan community space flooded with natural light. One side is surrounded by a Japanese-inspired garden, with a community-managed garden on the other. Produce from the garden is shared with our community throughout the year. In the spacious, family-friendly children’s area, you’ll find a cubby house, along with regular Storytime sessions and activities.

Facilities include community space for hire, quiet study areas, free Wi-Fi and computer access, along with printing, photocopying, and scanning options. Library membership is free, and our collection offers the latest bestsellers, downloadable books and audiobooks, large print titles, DVDs, magazines, and access to a range of Digital Library resources.

Watsonia Library provides a familiar and friendly atmosphere to all members of the community, and a social hub for the young and young-at-heart. We invite you to come and experience it for yourself!
