Encouraging creative minds to thrive
Responding to community interest, YPRL programs and services support the development, production and presentation of creative work within safe and welcoming environments.
Access to technology, spaces, events and resources promotes community skill development, learning, connection, collaboration and wellbeing.
YPRL hosts a dynamic range of creative programs, including:
Maker Spaces
Featuring well-appointed specialist resources and equipment, Maker Spaces facilitate hands-on learning, empowering our diverse communities to create, connect and collaborate. Maker Space kits are also available to members wishing to complete projects at home. YPRL Maker Spaces include Textiles & Craft, Gardening, Writing & Publishing, Science & Technology and Design.
Maker Month
An annual celebration of community creativity, Maker Month offers artists, creative practitioners, start-ups and small businesses a range of learning and skill development opportunities to inspire engagement, skill development, idea exploration and endeavours. Maker Markets also offer opportunities to showcase and sell creative works to new audiences.
Booklovers Festival
The annual YPRL Booklovers Festival offers members an opportunity to discover local authors, meet like-minded people and explore creativity whilst having fun. Featuring author talks and workshops, our festival is attended by writers, readers, and the curious-minded alike. Regular author talks also inspire discovery, engagement, learning and community connection.
Book Clubs
Encouraging members to connect and explore the world through diverse perspectives, YPRL Book Clubs offer a great range of current titles. Book Clubs are initially supported by a YPRL staff member, operating independently at a location of choice once established.
