What's happening at our Lalor and Thomastown Libraries?

Exciting news! Our Lalor and Thomastown branches are getting a makeover. From Monday 15 April, Lalor Library will be closed for renovations. We expect to complete these renovations in June, after which Lalor will re-open and Thomastown Library will close for its own renovations.

Both branches have a long history of working together, so you can expect to see some familiar faces in new places!

What you need to know:

  • While Lalor Library is closed, Thomastown Library will temporarily open on Sundays from 1.00pm – 5.00pm.

  • Some of our regular programs will be moving from one branch to another, and we will also offer extra programming during the school term at our local hubs and Community Centres: Galada Community Centre, Kirrip Community Centre, and Jindi Community Centre. Information on all these events can be found on our website.

  • The Lalor Toy Library will be operating out of Thomastown until Lalor re-opens and will be accepting returns.

  • All items that have been borrowed from Lalor Library will have their loans extended until Lalor re-opens.

  • All holds available for pick up will be moved from Lalor to Thomastown on 15 April. You will be notified when your holds are available. If you wish to change the pickup location to another branch, you can change this online or speak to a staff member who will do this for you. If you have difficulty getting to one of our other branches, we can suspend your holds until Lalor Library re-opens.

We expect to have all the renovations across both branches complete by July 2024. We will keep you updated on our progress and notify you of any further changes via our website.
