Battle of the Builders!

YPRL Staff

4 April, 2023

LEGO® is one of the most popular building blocks in the world.  Here at Yarra Plenty Regional Library we share your addiction. So, we are running our first LEGO® Tournament this school holidays!

What’s a LEGO® tournament?  Well, I’m glad you asked!

Form a team of three, four, or five people – from age 8 to 18 – family or friends, and show us your creative building skills.

When are the sessions?

The tournaments are on Tuesday 11 April at Diamond Valley Library, Wednesday April 12 at Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub, and Friday 14 April at Lalor Library. Get in quick to register your team.

How is the winner chosen?

Each competition will be judged by your peers, and other library visitors. Everyone is welcome to come to Lalor, Diamond Valley, or Ivanhoe Libraries and choose the creation they like the best. When you borrow a library item you can place your vote.  Voting will close on Wednesday 19 April.

The LEGO® Final – Who is the Champion?

To add to the excitement, we will have a final building competition on Saturday 22 April at Lalor Library with the top contenders from Lalor, Diamond Valley, and Ivanhoe libraries competing for the title of Ultimate YPRL LEGO® Builder, selected by a special guest judge.

I don’t want to compete, I just want to build for fun.

If you just love LEGO® and want to build and contribute, we have something for you too! Create buildings, trees, parks, roads, people, animals... anything and everything to make our LEGO® City come to life. The City will be available at Diamond Valley Library for you to add to over the School Holidays.

I want to know about more LEGO® activities

We also run regular after-school LEGO® Clubs throughout the year.  Check out all the LEGO® events coming up.
