Libraries play an important role in preserving our stories. In 2024, Yarra Plenty Regional Library created a series of oral history films featuring residents from Melbourne’s north-east. They recount personal experiences of migration to Australia and the difficulties and joys of that journey.  These fascinating films are a beautiful entry into the experience of others and a record for future generations to reflect upon.

Homeland Stories an exhibition held at Loft 275, Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub is open 17 March - 6 April, 2025. It celebrates these diverse stories and invites you to explore treasured objects each participant brought with them from their homeland.

Are you a migrant to Australia? Do you have a treasured object from your homeland?

We would love to hear your story too.
