This Anzac Day we acknowledge and remember those who have served Australia.
2026 marks the centenary of the Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Tower (formerly known as the Shire of Eltham War Memorial). The front of the tower features significant plaques with names of local men who fell in the 1914-1918 war. Later a plaque was added with the names of men who gave their lives in the 1939-1945 war.
Early this year the name plaques and associated wreath plaques were refurbished. This followed restoration and conservation works on the stone tower by Nillumbik Shire Council. An event to mark the centenary will be held later in the year.
