A Maker Space is an environment where technology, equipment and software can be showcased, explored and taught.
Yarra Plenty Regional Library’s Maker Spaces allows community members to experience and play with technology not readily accessible, creating and opportunities to learn new skills.
Your local Maker Space isn't necessarily a permanent physical space in the library but is an organic and flexible concept. Libraries with Maker Spaces feature activities, events, classes, courses, displays and specialised equipment relating to their unique theme. These spaces are hosted by passionate staff with skills and knowledge in that area of interest.
Some Maker Spaces have equipment that is available at any time during opening hours. Most resources are accessed through specialised programs.
