YPRL and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, world leaders collaborated to establish 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), with the aim to tackle inequalities globally and craft a better world for everybody by 2030. Since 2017, Australian libraries have formally been promoting and working towards these goals.

At Yarra Plenty Regional Library we have operated in response to the following goals:

Goal 1 - No poverty

Goal 3 - Good health and well-being

Goal 4 - Quality education

Goal 5 - Gender equality

Goal 8 - Decent work and economic growth

Goal 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Goal 10 - Reduced inequalities

Goal 11 - Sustainable cities and communities

Goal 16 - Peace and justice, strong institutions

Goal 17 - Partnerships for the goal

Libraries address many of these goals in the day-to-day work we do.

We demonstrate this year-round through our programs and events, our collections development and our sustainability efforts. Learn more about how YPRL has addressed these goals in the past year in our new Sustainable Development Goals Report.
