Our School Holiday events are filling up quickly, so we've put this blog together for you to explore the events that still have some spaces left! Don't miss out on these great, FREE events to keep the kids entertained these school holidays.

Immersive Worlds 
Explore new worlds through Dungeons & Dragons, table-top games, and Nintendo Switch on the BIG screen. Then try our Escape Room... if you dare! This event is for 12-25 years only. Delivered in partnership with Banyule Youth Services. 

 

Comic Art Adventure  
Learn the essentials of comic drawing in this interactive workshop! 

 

Kids Craft with MakeDo 
MakeDo is a system of tools and screws that lets you turn ordinary cardboard and other materials into amazing craft creations. Learn exciting construction techniques, collaborate on group projects and take home your unique creations. Limited spaces available so register now for an unforgettable creative adventure! 

 

Kids Learn to Knit
Learn some basic knitting skills in this fun introductory session. 

First Nations Cultural Experiences: 

 

Acknowledging Country, Monday 18 September at Diamond Valley Library, 2.00pm—3.00pm.

Have you ever wondered about the difference between a Welcome to Country and an Acknowledgement of Country? Learn about what they mean, when and why we do them, and then showcase your creativity by making your own personal Acknowledgement of Country to be featured in the library. Based on learning resources from organisations including Narragunnawali and Reconciliation Australia.

Indigenous Hip Hop, Tuesday 19 September at Thomastown Library, 2.00pm—3.00pm.

Discover the power of Indigenous hip hop culture! Join in this active dance workshop with us as we celebrate the rich history and vibrant energy of this art form, giving voice to young Australians. We will explore the captivating dance behind the music and show our support for Aboriginal youth. 

Indigenous Contemporary Dance, Friday 22 September at Lalor Library, 11.00am—12.00pm

Discover the spirit of Aboriginal culture through dance at our captivating event. Join in this active dance workshop as we embark on a mesmerising journey of 'Liyan Nyikina', which means 'connecting to country and spirit'. Let dance be the gateway to understanding Australia's unique cultural heritage.

Active Fun:

Get Active with Giant Twister!

Wednesday 20 September and Wednesday 27 September at Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub, 10.30am—11.00am

Can you put your right hand on red? What about left foot blue? Can you do both at the same time? Come and play a giant version of this timeless classic that puts you head over heels! Please wear loose comfy clothes. 

Teens Introductory Karate Workshop, Thursday 28 September at Thomastown Library, 11.00am—12.00pm

Join us for an introductory martial arts workshop where you will develop your fitness skills, flexibility and strength as well as increase your focus, confidence and discipline. 
Joseph, a 7th Dan karate master from Martial House, will lead participants through a warm-up, basic techniques and self-defence. Dress comfortably. Recommended age: 13-17 years.

Movie Mayhem:

 

Mill Park Library is running daily movie screenings for the School Holidays, there’s no need to register, just come along, sit back and relax! These are running every day from Monday 18 September through to Friday 29 September (excluding the 23 and 24 September due to the weekend!), movies will start at 1.00pm. Movie Afternoon, Monday 18 September at Thomastown Library, 2.30pm—4.00pm

A fun and relaxing movie afternoon at Thomastown Library during the school holidays. The event is free and open to everyone, so bring your friends and make some new ones! You are welcome to bring your own movie snacks. 

Teen Movie Night, Monday 18 September at Lalor Library, 5.00pm—8.00pm

Join us for an epic Teen Movie Night at the library! Enjoy blockbuster hits, snacks, and good company. For ages 13 to 18.
