The Big Summer Read kicks off Friday 1 December, and we are so excited!
The Big Summer Read is a reading program for children and young adults aged 0-18 years old which encourages reading over the summer school holidays.
You can find out more about it here or pop into your local library and start reading!
To celebrate the start of the Big Summer Read with us, why not come by to some of our exciting community events this weekend:
-
Big Summer Read: Scavenger Hunt, Friday 1 December, 12.00pm—5.00pm, at Eltham Library
-
Evening Maker Market, Friday 1 December, 4.00pm —8.00pm, at Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub
-
The Christmas Mix-Up Live Show, Saturday 2 December, 11.00am —12.00pm, at Lalor Library
Avoid the ‘summer-slide’ and help encourage young readers to keep up their literacy skills over the school holidays, there are even some amazing prizes to win:
The Grand Prize
If everyone is reading and having fun together, there’s no reason why we can’t all share community prizes together! This way there's even more winners! This year, win your spot into one of three experiences or workshops - one held in each of our local government areas.
- Special Guest Author Event. Proudly sponsored by BorrowBox. Get front row seats to this author event, with the opportunity to ask questions of one of Australia's favourite authors.
- Cartooning Workshop with Cardytoons
- Woodworking Workshop with Craft Power
Once the Big Summer Read is over, winners will be contacted with the date and time of their chosen special experience.
