Do you need help researching your family history? Looking for tips to search Ancestry or Trove? Hit a brickwall in your research journey?

Consider booking a session with one of our experienced volunteer family history tutors to discuss a strategy and learn about resources which you can access to reach your research goal:

Come prepared with a clear goal for the session. It is useful to bring along a family group record with as much information as you know completed. For a simple Family tree descendant report this is a good one from Trove which can be edited online

Bring along  your own laptop if available, to assist in your session experience.  Bookings are essential.

Genealogy Groups

In addition to our individual help, researchers can attend one of our genealogy groups which meet regularly.  Meet other researchers, share your research, discuss challenges and learn about new resources.

Ivanhoe Genies meet on the 1st Saturday of the month in the History Room, Level One, Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub

Melbourne DPS group meets on the fourth Saturday at Watsonia Library.
