February 14th is Library Lovers’ Day.
The theme for this year is “only you”. We love that our purpose is “only you” – everything we do is just for you, our community.
We love to provide a safe, free, non-judgmental space place for every member of our community. You can read a book, find information, learn, discover, work, connect with friends and family, meet new people, or just relax.
Here are some of the other things we love about libraries...
We love giving families a free and welcoming place to bring their children. We love providing storytimes for your children, to help them on their literacy journey. We love running our school holiday programs to keep children connected and having fun.
We love running our Code Clubs and Science clubs, to encourage children to learn about science and technology.
We love to help you find something good to read; it can be a ‘real’ book, or an eBook, audio book, a print or eMagazine, or even the newspaper every day in our branches.
We love providing access to resources that you might not have at home. It might be access to a computer or the internet, printing and scanning. It might be our Maker Space equipment, or our meeting rooms.
We love that we are cool places for you in Summer, and warm in Winter.
We love giving you free access to family history resources such as Ancestry, Find My Past, British Newspapers Archive, Gale Primary Resources, Wikinorthia, and more.
We love providing a service to our community members who can’t come to us. We love getting out and about on our Mobile Library, or delivering items to you through our Home Library service and Outreach van.
We love that communities can come together in libraries to learn, share, and celebrate where they live, who they are, and what they want to become.
Tell us why you love our library
That’s just a tiny bit of what we love about being your library, now we’d love to hear what you love about your library.
Pop into any of our branches on Library Lovers’ Day, February 14th, and let us know what you love about your library. Note it down on a post-it, compose a letter, sing a song, or say it out loud. We can't wait to hear from you!
