Explore the history of where you live, work and play this October through our program of local expert guest speakers and presentations and local history walks.

HIGHLIGHTS 

Ivanhoe Library is turning 60!  Our community celebration will include a special guest performance from 1960's icon Elvis, face painting, kids' activities, dress ups and more. 

We are also celebrating our Mobile Library’s 70th  with a special screening of the documentary Driving Connections 70 Years of YPRL Mobile Library. 

Recording Life Stories (Limited Places) 

Every life story is important. Attend an oral history workshop to learn about recording a life story. Recollections and reminiscences are powerful additions to local and family history research projects. Nina from Memory Lane Life Stories will lead a workshop focusing on how to record oral history. Nina will share practical tips encouraging inter-generational interviews. How to ask great questions and how to set up and record an interview.

The livestock pavilion, main arena events, animal nursery, vintage equipment, woodchopping, the craft, the dogs, the cookery, the Grand Parade and more! 

The Whittlesea Show has been a community staple for over 160 years.  Enjoy a trip down memory lane with a presentation and mini exhibition by members of the Whittlesea Agricultural Society and the Whittlesea Historical Society as we roll back the years on The Show.   Your reminiscences welcome

A small seven bed hospital opened in Greensborough on January 10 1942.  The next day, its first baby was born!  The hospital served the wider community till 1999 when it closed.  Join members of the Greensborough Historical Society.  Your reminiscences welcome.

In addition to  exploring  our local places,  we are welcoming author Robyn Howarth, author of Faraday: A Community Rediscovered. She was one of six  children at the rural school north-west of Melbourne who was a survivor of the 1972 kidnapping.
