Join us for Sydney Writers Festival 2026

Yarra Plenty Regional Library is excited to be a Sydney Writers Festival Live & Local partner in 2026. What does this mean exactly?

Between 21 – 24 May, selected sessions will be livestreamed in our Diamond Valley and Eltham branches. What more reason is there to come along? Well, for starters, we can give you five!

1. Access to Big Name Authors at Local Branches...

Take a look at the program - names, names, names! Yann Martel, David Szalay, Trent Dalton, Dav Pilkey, Stephanie Alexander, R.F. Kuang and more. Over the course of four days, come along and enjoy listening to these creative, talented minds discuss books and writing.

2. ...While Enjoying a Cuppa at the Same Time

That’s right, experience culture with a treat. Tea and coffee will be provided during the adult sessions to add a layer of specialness to the occasion.

3. Explore our Spaces a Little more

And while you are here, why don’t you explore both branches a little more. If it’s been a while since you’ve visited, you might not have seen the Eltham refurbishments, or the Diamond Valley renovations. For example, have you seen the garden and new playground, or our popular co-working spaces at Diamond Valley?

4. Browse our collection while you are here

Along with our collection and market display stands curated with a range of reading options, a list of books by featured festival authors can be found here. Get your ‘Borrow’ or ‘Place reservation’ fingers ready.

First, if you haven’t already done so, you can easily sign up for membership online.

5. Save Money by Not Needing to Travel

Now, we’re not going to turn this into a Melbourne versus Sydney battle but think about the money you’re saving by not needing to travel north or paying for a streaming pass to access the festival.

Fun fact: Diamond Valley Library was the first library in Victoria to launch a Reading Dogs program!

Fun fact: Eltham Library is heritage-listed and is featured in this documentary by Open House Melbourne.
