Our library spaces will be transformed into cozy havens, inviting you to participate in a range of free Warm up with evening events that will ignite your senses and create lasting memories.
From captivating performances and interactive workshops to movie nights and community gatherings, these events are sure to enhance your winter experience.
With warm drinks, games, crafts, and friendly conversations, these events are designed to bring people of all ages together and foster a sense of community.

Warm up with a Family Games Night, Wednesday 5 July at Lalor Library, 6.30pm–8.00pm
Come along to play board and card games with your family with bragging rights going to the winner! Plus, explore classic toys and games such as elastics, knuckle bones, marbles, skipping and yo-yos.
Libraries After Dark: Warm up with a Family Movie, Thursday 6 July at Watsonia Library, 7.00pm–9.00pm
Relax and enjoy a movie in the comfort of the library as part of our Libraries After Dark program. We'll be screening a family-friendly film that's perfect for kids and parents alike.
The event is free and open to everyone, so bring your friends and make some new ones! You are welcome to bring your own movie snacks.
Warm up with Singing and Dancing, Monday 10 July at Lalor Library, 7.00pm–8.30pm
Join us for a musical performance from Sisters and Misters, full of dancing and song. Sit and enjoy a cuppa or dance the night away. You will be most welcome either way.
Libraries After Dark: Warm up with a Writing Workshop, Thursday 13 July at Mill Park Library, 7.00pm–8.30pm
Learn how to write free verse or prose in this workshop with local author Sue Gunningham. This workshop will focus on writing responses to prompts, a great way to spark creativity and help you out if you don't know what to write about. Join a group of likeminded writers, share your writing, and let your imagination flow free.
Warm up with a No Waste Cooking Workshop, Tuesday 18 July at Diamond Valley Library, 6.30pm-8.00pm
Join us for an educational cooking experience that focuses on clever yet simple ways to reduce our household food waste. Our facilitator will share helpful tips and tricks about reducing food waste and how to make delicious zero waste recipes. Be inspired to get creative with vegetable scraps, odds and ends and excess seasonal produce. You'll also receive some recipes and resources to take home!
This workshop is also being run at Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub and Lalor Library in August!
Warm up with a Cozy Book Chat, Tuesday 18 July at Thomastown Library, 5.00pm–6.00pm
Join us for a warm and inviting gathering where book enthusiasts can come together, share their favourite reads, and sip on delicious hot chocolate. It's the perfect way to relax, connect, and discover new literary treasures.
Warm up with a Family Movie Night, Wednesday 19 July at Lalor Library, 6.00pm–8.30pm
Join us for a family friendly movie and enjoy some hot chocolate and marshmallows. Plus, have your picture taken in front of our green screen and pick your own character to share with family and friends.
Warm up with an Urban Greenery Workshop, Wednesday 26 July at Eltham Library, 7.00pm–8.00pm
Join local ecological artist Lloyd Godman for a fascinating talk on how to create beautiful, low maintenance green urban spaces without a watering system, fertilizer or plastic. Lloyd is an artist who has developed plant sculptures, walls and greenery for many projects around Melbourne.
Libraries After Dark: Warm up with Winter Asian Cooking, Thursday 27 July at Mill Park Library, 7.00pm–8.30pm
Warm up this winter with some hot Asian recipes by Jean from Jean’s Asian Cooking. There will be a cooking demonstration, tastings and copies of recipes to take home.
Green walls and roof gardens are becoming increasingly popular in our built up urban environments as we recognise the benefits of plants and greenery for our health and wellbeing. So come along to learn more about how we can green our local environment.
