Meet the Maker: Angela from ‘Lumina Candles Melbourne’

After losing her father in 2016, Greensborough candlemaker Angela would honour his memory by lighting a candle near his photo every day. ‘This ritual proved to be costly,’ she says, ‘which led me to think about making candles for personal use.’ She attended a candle-making course, and soon expanded to making candles for family and friends. And so Lumina Candles Melbourne was born, with lumina meaning ‘light’ in Italian.

Angela has created a range of quality home fragrance items including soy wax candles, room sprays, and room diffusers. ‘All of our products are made to order in small batches with care and attention to detail.’

Customers can choose from 17 scents and a variety of glassware designs. ‘We often have customers who buy a candle not so much for the candle fragrance, but for the beautiful jar that it comes in!’ says Angela. The business even caters to those with allergies and sensitivities, with unscented candles available.

Lumina Candles Melbourne regularly attends local markets, school fetes and special events, and has provided candles for local businesses and further afield. ‘We are currently in the planning stage of supplying candles to a clothing shop in Shepparton,’ Angela reveals, ‘and we also have a wholesale customer in Queensland.’

You can see the full range of home fragrance items in the online shop, and visit the business on Instagram. Angela will be attending the Twilight Craft Market on Thursday 17 November from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm at Watsonia Library, so come along and experience the light of Lumina Candles Melbourne in your home or workspace for yourself!

Meet the Maker: ‘Annie’s Handmade’

One of the many stallholders will be ‘Annie’s Handmade’, who has been selling hand-sewn products for the family for 5 years!

Annie makes and sells very popular kid’s art and cooking smocks. Loads of different colourful designs and themes are available, including cartoon and superhero character smocks. They make great gifts, or kids love to choose their own smock.

There are also unique skirts, shorts and aprons, available in a range of gorgeous colours that attract attention. Annie will happily make to order if you would like a particular combination of colours or theme.

She also makes beautiful cosy, cuddly fabric baby blankets, a perfect gift for a baby shower or for welcoming a newborn, or even baby’s first Christmas.

Come and see Annie’s beautiful products and pick up a handmade gift for Christmas, or just because!
