Reconciliation Week 2023 is fast approaching and YPRL has a regional program of events planned.
The theme for Reconciliation Week 2023 is Be a Voice for Generations.
National Reconciliation Week runs from Saturday 27 May to Saturday 3 June and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The year 2023 is of particular significance and importance, as we as a country take part in a referendum to vote on embedding a First Nations Voice to Parliament which would be protected by the Constitution and is a key element of the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
Libraries play key role in providing our communities access to information and resources and YPRL are proud to be hosting a variety of programs during National Reconciliation Week including special First Nations Storytime, Family Storytime and early years activities like Messy Morning Play.
In Conversation: Shelley Ware and Aunty Janine Coombs
We are really excited about the First Knowledges series author talk events on Plants and Astronomy, as well as an in-conversation at Watsonia on the Uluru Statement from the Heart between Shelley Ware and Aunty Janine Coombs. Shelley and Aunty Janine will share what the Statement means to them, to Aboriginal people and to the Australian community.
