Home Library Service

Yarra Plenty Regional Library home library service is a free and convenient way for housebound residents and their carers to borrow library materials.

Who is eligible?

This service is available to people who are unable to access the library due to ill health, disability and age-related health issues and their carers.

How does it work?

Once your borrowing preferences are ascertained, you will be matched up with a suitable volunteer who will deliver library materials to you on a monthly basis.

What is available?

Large and small print books, CDs, DVDs, and magazines are all available for loan. If you have difficulties with print, audiobooks can be arranged, with a player if required. Within our collection we have 16 different community languages, as well as subtitled videos and talking books. Downloadable material is also available.

What if I haven’t finished the books?

You are able to renew any unfinished items twice, provided others have not placed a hold on them.

What if I live in a retirement village, nursing home or institution?

We also have a specialty vehicle that visits and provides library services to retirement villages, nursing homes and institutions. Find out if the outreach vehicle visits your place of residence already or let us know where you are and we can look into what's possible.
