Why walk?

The Heart Foundation recommends walking as a way to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Walking for an average of 30 minutes a day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 per cent.

Walking can also help you manage weight, blood pressure and cholesterol and improve balance and coordination, among other benefits. Read more about the health benefits of walking

Walking is also fun and a great way to explore your local area! Inspired? City of Whittlesea has a number of walking maps for you to download and explore

What happens at a Walking Book Club?

No, you don't need to read and walk! Walking Book Clubs are topic-based conversations that incorporate walking and talking. No pre-reading required.

Each session will have a leader to get the conversation going and navigate. Along the way there are a range of activities planned such as chats, hearing from local experts, and visiting historical landmarks - even yoga!

Our Walking Book Clubs will help you connect with like-minded people who are also interested in being more active. Session times here

People of all abilities are welcome. See you there!
