Michael Terrence Roach is a former Australian Rules Football player who represented Richmond in the Victorian Football League from 1977 to 1989. Remembered for his long, accurate kicking for goal and strong marking, for a brief period Roach was the best forward in Australian football. On top of the Watsonia shops is a car park. Entrance to this car park is via the driveway. Please don't take a mark like Michael Roach. "I used to have Barry Lawrence numbers - 13 and five - on my jumpers and he was my idol as a kid when he was at St. Kilda." (The same colours as the Watsonia Football Club) Michael Roach is remembered for his mark over Terry Moore and Kelvin Moore. He credits good old fashioned kick-to-kick at training for giving him the ability to take marks that are now part of footy folklore.
