Staged reopening of YPRL branches

To give clarity during these turbulent times, Yarra Plenty Regional Library is outlining a staged approach to our reopening in a way all our users understand, a trilogy of books! Book one, Click & Collect launched on June 1, while book two, See For Yourself, will be released in late June. Book three, A Return to Regular Programming, will arrive later in the year. For further details of what will be available at each stage of YPRL's reopening, please see the below image. You can also find more information in our Reopening FAQ. Please note that Ivanhoe Library will remain closed, offering no services until the new Ivanhoe Library opens in September.

During book one, you, the hero of the story, returns to the library to obtain books through the legendary Click & Collect, and use the return chutes, while hope returns to the community that library services will someday emerge in full from the coronavirus pandemic. As an added bonus, you can check out the wide range of online programming with YPRL's Your Library at Home initiative. Unfortunately, some service are unavailable during this time, including browsing the collection, using the computers, and all face-to-face programming. This book is out now, so please use it to access the collection now!

In book two, you'll be invited to See For Yourself, with YPRL branches opening up for you to come in and browse the collection, use the computers, and talk to our friendly staff. The library will not be completely reopened, with some restrictions placed on how long you can attend, and visitor information will need to be collected. YPRL will continue to offer all the great initiatives we offered in book one, including Print & Collect, and Book Valet. Face-to-face programming will still not be able to be offered. Book two is expected to be released in late June and is in the final stages of editing now.

In the long awaited book three, we will be able to fully showcase everything that the library has to offer. While there may still be restrictions as the community comes to terms with the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, we'll look to continue to expand what we can offer and hope to be able to return to face-to-face programming in late 2020. This book isn't fully written yet, and we may have to make changes, like splitting it into two, or delaying the release date, but we'll be working towards completing it until we're able to release it!
