Spiderman come to life: Comic Con is here!

Comic Con is an opportunity for comic book fans to meet and cosplay their favourite characters.

On Saturday May 25 Nillumbik Shire Comic Con was hosted at the Diamond Valley Library. This was the 2nd in a series of three Comic Cons to be held across the three YPRL Councils of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea.

Public libraries play an important role in reducing social isolation and connecting communities.

Offering events such as Comic Con is a fun way to bring people together. How else would you see in your local library Spiderman, Sith Lords, Star Trek officers, Lady Bug, Robert Baratheon and many more?

Over 1300 attended our event and we were very happy with the response from participants on the day. Feedback included:

“Fun filled day with lots to see.”

“Lots of activities - better than expected.”

“Interactive, lots to do.”

“The vibe was great, it was great to see so many kids into this content.”

“Thank you for organising today's event, it was great for community and family.”

A special moment was the wonder in a 6 year-old boys face when he saw his comic book movie hero Spiderman come to life.
