Healthy and Active Ageing Expo

On 1 March 2020, Banyule and Nillumbik Shire Councils are collaborating to deliver a fun day of health and wellbeing activities, food, and community connections for older adults. The event will showcase over 40 exhibitors representing various organisations, community groups and services from across Banyule and Nillumbik, including Yarra Plenty Regional Library.

Exhibition goers will have the opportunity to get involved in a number of activities including:

  • Healthy cooking classes
  • Free Neck and Shoulder Massages
  • Belly Dancing Classes
  • Chair-based Pilates Sessions
  • Free Health Checks
  • Virtual Reality Experience hosted by YPRL
  • Repair Cafe hosted by YPRL 
  • Mindfulness Meditation Sessions
  • Bike n Blend Smoothie Bikes

There will also be a number of presentations on the day including 'Making the Most of Your Memory' from 10.00am – 12.00pm in which neuropsychologist Dr Mary Castellani will provide information about memory and healthy ageing. She will discuss practical skills for managing everyday memory challenges that occur with age, such as remembering names and keeping track of appointments. Mary will highlight some tips and strategies for improving memory efficiency as we age.

Make sure to bring along any items in need of repair to the YPRL Repair Cafe which will run from 10.00am – 1:00pm
