Use a Computer

See what our computers can do for you.

Every library has computer terminals with software that allows you to browse our catalogue or the Internet, use word-processing software, and edit photographs or even movie footage.  The programs installed include:

  • Adobe Reader
  • Gimp
  • Picasa
  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Yahoo Messenger
  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Office 2003 Standard
  • Scribus
  • Quicktime
  • VLC Player
  • WinZip

Each branch also has at least one Mac with the 2008 suite of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as the standard Apple programs including PhotoBoothiPhotoiMovie, and so on.

Users can use the printers for a small fee.  Data may not be downloaded to the computers' hard drive and  sound is not allowed; please bring your own memory devices and headphones.

Staff can provide assistance with using the computers' programs, and if you'd like to learn more about using the various capabilities of the computers be sure to attend the computer-literacy classes we have listed on our Events Schedule.
