  GENERAL SEARCHING TOOLS
  Search Engines
Search engines are often useful as a "starting point" for an enquiry, but they cannot be trusted for their authoritativeness and reliability. Databases and deep web resources are much more reliable to use. Every search engine has a different vision of the web & each one is updated at different times, and each provides a varying depth of information.
You must also remember that there is a constant commercial influence in search results within search engines

  Usenet Discussion Groups
Before the Web and web browsers, and before email became ubiquitous, online communication meant posting text messages on electronic bulletin boards where others could read and reply to them. Usenet began as a collection of these bulletin boards (now called discussion forums or newsgroups). Over the years, the number of such newsgroups has grown to the thousands, hosted all over the world and covering every conceivable topic about which humans converse.

  Bloggs
A blog is an online Web journal or Web log.
The act of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." A blog may be something as simple as an online diary, the musings of a political pundit, or daily notes distributed on a new technology or service.
