MyBistro

The Yarra Plenty online catalogue includes a special personalized package called MYBISTRO

It allows you to log into the catalogue before you begin your search.

 

Once logged into Mybistro, you can renew your books, check your card, place holds, etc. without having to re-enter your ID (card number) and PIN for each transaction.

 

 

User ID and PIN 

Your user ID is your library card number   (eg 12345678)

You will have selected a PIN when you were issued with your new membership card. If not then this will be set to the last four digits of your library card number. You can change your PIN under the “My Library Card ” link

 


Searching the catalogue

 

 

·        Click FULL DETAILS beside the item you would like to view.

 

·        This will display full details of the item, and which libraries hold it


Searching the Catalogue using Advanced Search

 

An Advanced Search allows you to narrow your search down more easily if you are searching for particular types of resources such as music CDs or videos.

·        To Access Power Search click on ADVANCED SEARCH ICON

·        This takes you to a more advanced search page.

Enter your search in the appropriate areas

LIBRARY enables you to search a specific library, use ALL to search the complete Yarra Plenty Collection

 

LANGUAGE narrows a search to a search a specific language

 

TYPE allows you to search specific types of materials such as videos, CDs, DVDs,

 

ITEM CATEGORY 1 allows a search to be narrowed to junior, YA or adult

 

ITEM CATEGORY 2 allows a search to be narrowed to specific language collections, 

 

PUBYEAR limits a search to titles published in a specified year

SORT allows results to be sorted in a specific way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Placing a Hold on an item

 

After conducting a search of the catalogue using the Basic Search or Power Search screen

A list of results will be displayed.

 

·        Click on FULL DETAILS of the item you wish to place on hold.

This displays the catalogue record of your selected item, which libraries hold the item, and whether or not they are out on loan.

 

 

·        Click on HOLD

Key in your library card number as ID 

(eg  12345678)

 

Key in your PIN 

 

 

Select the Library where you would like to pick up your hold.

 

A confirmation that a hold has been placed will appear on the screen.  Click OK to confirm.


Placing a Hold on a Magazine

 

 

Key in your library card with a B at the start and end as your USER ID (eg  12345678)

 

Key in your PIN

 

 

Select the library you wish to collect your hold from

 

If you wish to place a hold on a specific title, click the VOLUME SELECTED button

Then click the issue you want

 

Click on place HOLD

A confirmation that a hold has been placed will appear on the screen.  Click OK to confirm

You will then receive notification via phone or mail when it is available to collect from your selected Branch.

Ask a Librarian

 

Yarra Plenty Library offers an "Ask a Librarian" email service that allows you to ask a question without having to come into the Library. 

The following information should be included in your email

·        Your name

·        Level of information required (ie: primary, secondary, VCE, tertiary, general)

·         Date needed by (especially if it is for a school assignment)

·        As much detail as possible regarding your question in the email.

 

Online Databases

Yarra Plenty Library subscribes to a number of online databases that provide information from electronic reference sources such as magazines and newspapers
This information is not accessible via an Internet Search Engine.

The databases can be searched and full text information printed, saved or emailed in the library, or from your home computer if you are a member of the Yarra Plenty Library

Our databases cover a range of topics such as Health, Art, Music, Literature, Business, Government Biographies and Australian topics. They are an invaluable source of information for anyone looking for reliable and authorative information that can be accessed via the Internet.

Your suggestions and answers can be viewed under the

REVIEW icon in the  MY LIBRARY CARD section of the catalogue.

My Library Card

 

The MY LIBRARY CARD links you to details of transactions on you library card.

 

 

Review My Card

Allows you to see:

What you have out on loan and the due date of each of your items.

If you have any library fines

What items you have placed on hold   (you can cancel holds in this area)

Library Messages (messages & comments sent via the Catalogue)

 

If you have not already logged in, you must login with your library card number as your ID before you can access any details (eg  B4/1234567B)

PIN is not required unless you wish to activate a personal pin

Details what you have on loan & when it is due back

 


Any fines you have

 

What holds you have

 

 

 

 


Any Library messages

 

 


To cancel a Hold

·        Tick the box beside the hold you want cancelled and click on CANCEL SELECTED HOLDS

 

 

 

Requests/Library Messages

 

Library requests you have sent via the CONTACT US icon on the catalogue

 (ie Comments and Suggest a purchase) can be viewed in LIBRARY MESSAGES

Replies to your messages are also viewed in this area.

 

To access Click on LIBRARY MESSAGES

You requests can be modified or cancelled by you.  To do this click on MODIFY or CANCEL

User PIN Change

This allows you to change your PIN on your library card if you wish.

 

 

Renew My Materials

 

Items on your card can be renewed twice after they are originally borrowed, provided no one else has placed a hold on them.

 

·        To renew the items on your card click on RENEW MY MATERIALS

 

If you have not already logged in, you must login with your library card number as your ID before you can access any details (eg  12345678) and PIN

 

 

You can select to renew all items on your card, or select individual titles by using checkboxes beside each item

 

Sometimes items can’t be renewed.

It may be because

If this happens, a message will appear telling you which items could not be renewed.

 

 

Logging out of the Catalogue

 

It is important to log out of the Catalogue when you have complete your transactions.

This ensures no one using the computer after you can access your details.
